The Mechanical Engineer researches, plans, and designs mechanical, electrical, and/or electromechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operates with safety as the number one priority. Follows all safety absolutes and corrects any and all hazardous conditions immediately.
Must be knowledgeable of and comply with all BMS policies, practices and procedures.
Researches and analyzes data such as customer (product, technical, or production department) design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heated transfer systems.
Plans and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
Works closely with production and maintenance to coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
Evaluates field installation and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
2+ years of project management experience is preferred
Experience with equipment and components used in heavy manufacturing (mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical components and interactions)
Strong communication skills
Self-motivated, service oriented, hands-on performer with the ability to lead and prioritize a group.
Equipment design experience would be beneficial, but not necessarily required.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
