The Opportunity | Mechanical Design Engineer

Curtiss-Wright is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic and dedicated team at our Target Rock facility in East Farmingdale, NY. This position will involve working with a range of valve styles including Solenoid, Gate, Globe, Check, Pressure Relief and Pressure Regulator. The successful candidate will have previous proven experience and looking for a challenging role with a leading company. You will be passionate about Design and have strong knowledge of computer programs.

Location: East Farmingdale, New York

Your Challenge

Performing design and analysis activities for new design/development and existing product improvement programs
Coordinating design activities with the Design/Drafting group and Project Engineering
Providing oversight of design reports and analysis work conducted by sub-tier suppliers
Maintaining and executing projects for the Target Rock PID (Product Improvement and Development) Program
Reviewing specifications for compliance with proposed design
Overseeing and preparing design drawings and 3D models
Preparation and review of design reports
Standardizing Design Methods and analysis techniques
Maintaining designs for the entire product life-cycle; from conceptual design to manufacture, assembly, test, and customer support
Your Expertise

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Nuclear)
A minimum of three years proven experience in a similar role
Knowledge of products and industry requirements
Proficient in analysis techniques (structural, thermal, flow, etc.)
Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Strong working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Mathcad, AutoCAD, LabVIEW, ANSYS, NX and Teamcenter
Knowledge of Valve Design preferred
Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards related to preparing manufacturing drawings
Working knowledge of ASME B&PV Code and/or SDB-63/VDM-71 desirable
Due to the nature of the work performed at this facility, this role may require a DOD Government security clearance. Incumbents must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance while employed by this site.
