Day Zero Diagnostics (DZD)

Day Zero Diagnostics (DZD) is an exciting startup revolutionizing infectious disease diagnostics, by leveraging cutting-edge sample prep technologies, whole genome sequencing and machine learning. We are building the next generation of IVDs, able to perform comprehensive bacterial species ID and antimicrobial resistance and susceptibility (AMR/S) profiling in less than 8 hours of sample receipt, without the need for culture.

Day Zero is currently looking for an engineering intern to join its product engineering team. This role will report directly to the VP of Product Realization and support DZD’s efforts to development its molecular diagnostics single use consumable. Activities range from developing initial concepts in Solidworks, prototyping and debug, to programming liquid handling robots testing and optimization.

Primary Qualifications:

Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field
Experience designing machine and plastic components in Solidworks
Experience in a programing language, such as Python is highly desirable
Ability to collect, analyze, and present data from test results
Highly motivated and independent, with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong oral and written communications skills
