Overview

Triumph Engine Control Systems is a leading independent aerospace fuel system supplier for the commercial, military, helicopter, and business jet markets. Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph employs approximately 550 personnel. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, and main fuel pumps for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

 

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for leading the creation and improvement of products that involve the engineering department. This includes the design, development, and testing of aircraft fuel and environmental control system components.

Responsibilities

Generate and perform relevant mechanical design and analyses with respect to dynamic fuel pumping systems, vapor cycle systems, and/or liquid cooling systems.
Package environmental fuels and control system components for airborne applications.
Lead engineering trade studies and analysis.
Perform detailed component design analyses and present results to customers in support of design reviews.
Troubleshoot fluid and mechanical systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to create design layouts based on design inputs, from customer specifications and other engineering teams.
Ability to read and understand complex drawings.
Ability to read, understand, and develop hydraulic schematics.
Proficient in 3D solid modeling, preferably UG NX or Catia.
Proficient in understanding and applying GD&T requirements to new designs.
Able to perform complex assembly tolerance studies.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

BSME with 5 – 10 years of related experience preferred.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
Ability to meet project deadlines/schedules within budget.
Specific interest in environmental control system packaging, component design, and analysis.
Specific interest in high-speed rotating systems.
Specific interest in valve function and design.
Familiarity with casting and machining principles with an interest in additive manufacturing.
Ability and willingness to travel as required.
